About us

Epodia was founded with a simple, yet powerful philosophy in mind: to create a collaborative platform where instructors may find original teaching materials ready-for-use in their classroom -- and where they will be able to post their own-authored topics for other teachers to use in theirs.

We hope that this free, unaffiliated, academically independent initiative, built over many long nights, will encourage faculty to develop new education aids, share their very best -- and in the process -- make creating and teaching great courses for our students easier for us all.

The Epodia founding team

Arnon I. Dreyfuss

Arnon Dreyfuss has had a long-standing interest in the dissemination of educational information. He began his career as a medical doctor and cancer researcher at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Harvard Medical School. Responding to a need he observed among his patients, he founded Dreyfuss Hunt, Inc., a private health information company. Dreyfuss Hunt grew to become one of the largest business-to-business providers of a variety of wellness publications, newsletters and on-line content and was ranked an "Inc. 500" company in 1997. After selling Dreyfuss Hunt, Arnon became interested in ways the internet could be used to share information among academic educators.

Christian Terwiesch

Christian Terwiesch teaches MBA and executive classes in the areas of operations management and product development at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a visiting appointment at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. Christian's research appears in many of the leading academic journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Marketing Science, Organization Science, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management. He is also active on various editorial boards for journals such as Management Science, Production and Operations Management, and IEEE Transactions. Christian is the winner of many teaching awards at Wharton. With his colleague Gerard Cachon he just completed a new textbook "Matching Supply with Demand" published by Irwin McGraw-Hill. Christian is a cycling fanatic and is still racing long distance triathlon races in Europe and the US.
Christian's teaching materials can be found on Epodia.

Karl Ulrich

Karl Ulrich is Professor and Chair of the Operations and Information Management Department at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Karl is the faculty director of the Weiss Tech House, an incubator for fostering student innovation. His work has been published in, among other journals, Management Science, Marketing Science, and Sloan Management Review. He is the author (with Steven Eppinger) of "Product Design and Development" (McGraw-Hill, 3rd Edition, 2004), the leading graduate textbook on product design. He is the winner of many teaching awards, including the Anvil Award, the Miller-Sherrerd Award, and the Excellence in Teaching Award at The Wharton School. Karl has been a member of development teams for over 30 new products or processes, including medical devices, tools, computer peripherals, food products, and sporting goods. As a result of this development work, he has been granted 18 patents. From 1999-2002, while on leave from Wharton, Karl founded and managed Nova Cruz Products, a manufacturer of high-performance personal transportation products including the Xootr scooter. Many of
Karl's teaching materials can be found on Epodia.
